Humbird (16 May 1974)

Mr. and Mrs. John Perry of Richland Center were overnight guests Friday of her sister, mrs. Kate Dignin.

Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Sieg, Jill and Jeff, with Mr. and Mrs. Rolla Sieg of Fairchild, spent the weekend at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Seincox in Owatonna, Mn. They returned home late Sunday.

Mrs. Ann Sparks of Tomah came Friday to visit her sister and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Elger, and help with some spring housecleaning.

Miss Mary Jo Everson of Alma Center visited her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Matti, Friday.

Mrs. Fay Taylor, daughter and children, of Mosinee, came Tuesday to spend until Saturday with Mrs. Anita Markham.

Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Lemere and children of Augusta, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Mayer and baby of Fairchild, and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Holub of rural Hatfield, and several friends were Mother’s Day guests of Mr. and Mrs. Levi Fitzmaurice.

Mrs. Helen Fitzmaurice’s daughter, Mrs. Midge Mc Schooler, spent several days with her mother last week.

Mr and Mrs. Lyle Newell and Virgil spent Mother’s Day at the home of their daughter and sister, Mrs. Judy Staves, in Lakeland.

Mr. and Mrs. Hib Krumholz went to Marshfield Monday and Tuesday. She planned to undergo surgery on her ear.

Mr. and Mrs. Don Zerbel and children and his mother, Mrs. Freida Zerbel, drove to Stevens Point Sunday to spend Mother’s Day at the home of their sister and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Kleckner.

Mr. and Mrs. Hilliard Russell and her mother of Minneapolis, Mrs. Helene Nelson of Eau Claire, and Mr. and Mrs. Thane Joos and Karen of Alma Center, were Mother’s Day guests at the Newton home.

St. John’s Guild now meets Tuesday, and was privileged to have Mrs. Romona Duerkop show slides and talk of retarded children as part of their program.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Laffe were guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Orin Wold and John of Disco, who took them and their other guests, Mrs. Wold and David and Mrs. Hazel Field, to the Rustic Inn for a mother’s Day dinner.

Ed Mashin called Sunday at the John Greub home.

Mrs. Anita Markham called Wednesday at the Newton home.

The Happy Hour Homemakers will meet today (Thursday) at the home of Mrs. Ruth Duxbury.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bornowski and boys of Wausau, and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Nering and boys of rural Milwaukee, came Saturday to spend until late Sunday at the home of the ladies’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Polege.

Friday, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Austin and Cindy of Beloit surprised their mother, Mrs. Laura Dignin, by coming to spend until late Sunday with her. Sunday Mrs. Dignin and guests had a Mother’s Day dinner at the Jim Bloom home at Price.

Mr. and Mrs. Pirl Burrington of Thorp were Mother’s Day dinner guests of their daughter, Mrs. DeWayne Parent.

Mr. and Mrs. Everett Seuske and Joe, and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Kirby and children of St. Paul, and Mr. and Mrs. Burvel Walker of Minneapolis were here to spend Mother’s Day at the Archie Kirby home.

Mrs. Beatrice Stuve and Mrs. Eleanor Gile of Merrillan were dinner guests Sunday at the Glen Stuve home.

Mrs. DeWayne Parent and Mrs. Don Eisberner were in Eau Claire Friday and visited at the Ralph McIntyre home in rural Elk Mound.

Mr. and Mrs. Perle Pickett were dinner guests Mother’s Day at the home of her son, Bernard Burnett, in rural Hixton. By the way Mr. Pickett did a bit of fishing. Yes, he landed a 2 ½ pound trout. He says this story doesn’t go in the liars’ column either.

Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Terrell, and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Larson of Augusta, spent Mother’s Day at the Vaughn Ness home in Apple Valley, Mn.

Mr. and Mrs. Perle Pickett were Neillsville business callers Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. John Phillips and Marlyn drove to Wisconsin Rapids Saturday to spend until Monday visiting relatives and her mother, who is still in a rest home taking treatments after a stroke.

Mr. and Mrs. Leland Duxbury had as dinner guests Sunday, their mothers in honor of Mother’s Day.

Mrs. Elgie Hardwick is spending several days with her daughter, Mrs. Raymond Tesmer in Neillsville.

Mr and Mrs. Harly Cochran of Osseo were dinner guests Monday at the Leland Duxbury home.

Lightning struck in the Houghtonburg area and power was shut off Monday forenoon at the Lowell Shatswell home.

Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Yankee of Neillsville visited Friday evening at the Perle Pickett home.

The ladies of the United Methodist Church are sponsoring their Thrift and Bake Sale Satruday, May 18, starting at 10 a.m. Lunches will be sold.

Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Meyers and son of Neillsville came to spend the evening with Mr. and Mrs. Perle Pickett.
