Greeler, George W. (22 December 1901 - 12 May 1974)
A former Neillsville resident, George W. Greeler, 72, of Marshfield, died May 12
at St. Joseph’s Hospital there. Funeral services were to be held Wednesday at 2
p.m. from Immanuel Lutheran Church Marshfield, with the Rev. Eldore
Messerschmidt officiating. Burial was to be in the Hillside Cemetery. The Rux
Funeral Home at Spencer was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Greeler was born December 22, 1901, at Harvard, Il., and received his
education in Neillsville schools. He lived in Neillsville until his marriage to
the former Myrtle Schwantes, which took place June 9, 1928, in Spencer.
The couple farmed in the Spencer area for 25 years before their 1952 move to
Marshfield where he was a salesman. Mr. Greeler was a member of Immanuel
Lutheran Church.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three children: Du Wayne Greeler of
Lithopolis, Oh, Mrs. Eileen Kleba of Decatur, Il., and Allen Greeler of
Waukesha; one brother, Edward Greeler of Neillsville; one sister, Mrs. Darlene
Storm of Granton; and six grandchildren.
