Zuber, Walter J. (24 AUG 1915 – 1 FEB 1969)
Walter J. Zuber, 51, Marshfield, was killed in a head on collision, occurring in
his lane of traffic, on Highway 29, about 14 miles east of Wausau, at 2:30 p.m.
Saturday, February 1, 1969.
Henry Woznicki, 46, of Schofield, was also killed. In serious condition at
Wausau Memorial Hospital is Zuber’s son, Gary, 16.
Funeral services for Walter J. Zuber were held Wednesday, February 5 at 1 p.m.
at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. The Very Rev. Walter J. Dillenburg
officiated, and burial was made in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Mr. Zuber was born August 24, 1918 in Lublin (Taylor Co., Wis.), where he
received his education. He married Julie Szrepieniec August 19, 1944 at St.
Hilary’s Catholic Church in Chicago. The Zuber’s lived in Chicago until 1947,
and then farmed in the Dorchester and Withee areas until 1950, when Zuber became
owner and operator of the All Metal Stamping Company in Abbotsford. In 1962 the
family moved to Marshfield.
Mr. Zuber was a member of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church and also its Holy
Name Society.
He is survived by his wife; two daughter, Mrs. Jack (Delores) LaSee of
Belvidere, Ill. and Charlene of Marshfield; three sons, Kim of Marshfield,
Kenneth, a student at River Falls State University, and Gary, Marshfield; four
brothers, Ted, Bensenville, Ill., Stanley, Colby, Frank, Lublin and Edward,
Chicago, and six sisters, Mrs. Emory Ferencz of Chicago, Mrs. William Larson of
Stone Park, Ill., Mrs. Charles Crowe of Azura, California, and Mrs. Ralph Szot,
Mrs. Steve Sovetakis and Mrs. Nobert Ogurek, all of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
