Harrenstein, Vernon Edward (28 APR 1926 - 12 JAN 2016)
Vernon Edward Harrenstein, 89, of Rib Lake, Wisconsin, formerly of Freeport,
Ill., died Tuesday, Jan. 12 in Rib Lake.
Services for Vernon will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at Woodland
Community Church, with Pastor Len Robinson officiating.
Visitation will be held at Woodland Community Church from 10 a.m. until the time
of service. A private burial will follow at White Oak Cemetery in Forreston,
Ill.

Vernon Edward Harrenstein, 89, of Rib Lake, WI, formerly of Freeport, IL, passed
away Tuesday January 12, 2016 in Rib Lake.
Vernon was born April 28, 1926 in Forreston, IL, to John and Lydia (Ratmeyer)
Harrenstein.
He married Janice C. Dyslan in Freeport, IL on June 26, 1949. She preceded him
in death in 2009.
He is survived by 3 sons; Kurt (Karla) Harrenstein of North Carolina, Jeffrey
(Lori) Harrenstein of Lodi, WI., and Michael (Rebecca) Harrenstein of Rib Lake,
WI., 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Siblings; Caroline ( Neal)
Busker of Venice, FL Doris (Gary) Smith of Glendale, Arizona, Larry (Theo)
Harrenstein of Freeport, and Wayne (Karen) Harrenstein of Eden, NC., and many
nieces and nephews.
Vernon spent 8 years in the United States Air Force as a jet mechanic stationed
in Amarillo, TX, and then went on to teach Jet Mechanics to newly enlisted
members. Following his military career, he then owned his own mechanics shop,
and also taught mechanics at a Trade School. He enjoyed fishing, beekeeping, and
spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great
grandchildren. He enjoyed volunteering at Forest Springs Camp and Conference
Center in Westboro, WI, where he helped with maintenance and mowing lawn. He
enjoyed many of the programs that were held there over the years.
He will always be remembered for his positive outlook on life. Services for
Vernon will be held 11 a.m. Saturday January 16, 2016 at First Baptist Church in
Freeport, with Pastor Caleb Kolsted officiating.
Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until the time of
service. A private burial will follow at White Oak Cemetery in Forreston, IL.
Memorial Donations in honor of Vernon may be made to Forest Spring Camp and
Conference Center to be designated for construction of a new maintenance
facility.
