Marine Don F. Poehnelt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Matt H. Poehnelt of Route 1,
Abbotsford, is serving with the First Marine Aircraft Wing in Vietnam.
Air arm of the Third Marine Amphibious Force, the First Marine Aircraft Wing
operates several hundred aircraft, including fighter, attack, reconnaissance,
helicopter and transport aircraft.
In addition to providing aviation support for the First and Third Marine
Divisions, the Wing supports other U.S. and Allied forces in the five
northernmost provinces of the republic.
