Marine, Donald “Don” Ryan (20 June 1982 - 21 January 2016) With Flag
Donald “Don” Ryan Marine, 33, of Mondovi, passed away at his home Jan. 21, 2016.
He was born June 20, 1982, in Marshfield to Mark Marine and Linda Brey. Don
attended Neillsville High School and graduated in 2000. In 2003, he entered the
307th Engineer Battalion of the 82nd Airborne. Don served five tours in
Afghanistan and Iraq before he was honorably discharged in 2008. He married the
love of his life, Michelle Nelson, also known as “Bubs” April 18, 2015, in
Rochester, MN.
Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, helping fellow soldiers and spending
time at the cabin. He especially enjoyed being a prankster and spending time
with his daughter tinkering around building things together. Dan is survived by
his wife, Michelle Marine; daughter, Adelyn Marine; father, Mark Marine (Sue
Kronenwetter): mother, Linda Brey (Mickey Mazola); sister, Kari Marine;
four-legged friend, Sadie ‘puppy’; grandparents, Don Marine and Wallace and
Peggy Brey; extended family, Rachelle and Adam Mazola, aunts, uncles and other
relatives.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Dell, and fellow Army
brothers.
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Stokes, Prock &
Mundt Funeral Chapel, Altoona, with Fr. Paul Nelson officiating. Military honors
were given. Visitation was held Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m.
and again Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Private burial will be
held at a later date.
