Janke, Jerome “Jerry” G. (28 OCT 1933 - 11 SEP 2003)
Jerome (Jerry) G. Janke of Dade City passed to his Heavenly Home after a very
brave fight with cancer, on Thursday, Sept 11th, 2003 in Dade City
He was born to Herb and Mary Janke on Oct 28 1933 in Athens.
After attending Athens schools, he served in the US Army and Reserves from 1954
to 1962 stationed in Germany.
He married his loving wife, best friend and partner, Carol J Gottschalk on Nov.
26, l960, who survives.
Jerry lived his early life in Wisconsin where he worked with his brothers in
heavy construction until 1974, when he and Carol moved to Ft. Lauderdale FL. In
1976, they started Janke Construction in Dade City FL, and worked with several
partners, continuing that business successfully until 1991 when it was sold.
He and Carol loved to travel and visited many countries including Australia,
Russia, Greece, Europe and South America and many more, but really loved to come
to Wisconsin. He lived his life to the fullest.
Besides his wife, his mother, Mary Johnas, Necedah survives him. 1 brother Russ
(Charlene) Janke, Athens, 4 sisters, Luella (Andrew) Schreiner, Athens, Marilyn
(Delmar) Becker, Wausau, Therese (Ray) Thuot, Wausau, Joan (Joe) Braun, Athens,
1 sister-in law, Claudine Janke, his mother-in-law Lucille Gottschalk Edgar, 1
brother in law William (Barbara) Gottschalk, Rothschild, 2 sisters-in-law,
Patricia Ann (Robert) Schmirler, Dade City FL., Gail (Richard) Sjoquist,
Burnsville, MN. Also many Nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
His father, Herb Janke and brother James Janke preceded him in death.
Jerry's passing will leave a deep void in many lives. He will truly be missed,
but is now waiting for us, and it will be wonderful to be reunited with him in
Heaven.
Memorial Mass will be at 11:00a.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, at St. Anthony
Catholic Church, Athens. Rev Charles Heibl will preside. Burial will be at the
Edgar Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of
services at the church. Peterson/Kraemer, Edgar is in charge of the local
arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Moffitt Cancer
Center & Research Institute, Thoracic research Unit, 12902 Magnolia Drive Tampa
FL. 33612 or the Marshfield or Wausau Hospice in his name.
