Boatsman’s Mate 3-C Daniel L. Overright, 20, of Bradley, Ill., died February 27,
1969 aboard a barge that was hit by a rocket at Da Nang in the recent Tet
offensive.
He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Overright and grandson of Mrs. Josephine
Olson of Bradley, formerly of Abbotsford, and the late Einar Olson. Mrs.
Overright was the former Shirley Olson.
Memorial services were held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Bradley, Saturday,
March 15.
Daniel Overright entered the service in December 1966. He was home on leave in
January and left the United States February 16 to return to Vietnam, where he
was assigned to the barge. He had served four days on the barge when it was hit.
He is survived by his parents, one brother, Gary, and his maternal grandmother,
Mrs. Josephine Olson, all of Bradley.
