Buetsch, Melvin A. (22 FEB 1924 - 28 JAN 2016)
Melvin A. Buetsch, 91, Marathon, died Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Ministry St.
Clare's Hospital, Weston.
He was born February 22, 1924 in the town of Cassel, son of the late Albert and
Margaret (Wagner) Buetsch.
On February 2, 1952 he married Loretta Newman and they later divorced. On
December 30, 1999 he married Avila Tolk and she survives.
After graduation from the University of Wisconsin, College of Agriculture,
Melvin started Buetsch Implement Inc. on the home farm with Oliver Farm
Machinery in 1949. He purchased Luther Cheese Factory in 1960 and remodeled it
into the headquarters of an Oliver Farm Implement dealer and later added Fox
Choppers, Kewanee Elevators and Loadmaster Chopper Boxes. Melvin received many
Oliver Awards in top sales, service, outstanding performance and achievements.
He was selected to serve the state of Wisconsin on the new Presidential Business
Commission as Honorary Chairman of the Party's Business Advisory Council and was
very active in Agriculture education at the Northcentral Technical College.
Survivors include his wife, Avila; children, Linda (Wally) McKee, Abbotsford,
Mary (Mark) Loos, Mosinee, Catherine (Terry) Schulz, Rib Mountain, Diane
(Robert) Bush, Rothschild and Warren (Sandra) Buetsch, Wausau; step-children,
Dwight (Linda) Tolk, Athens and Cheryl Zimmermann, Wausau; grandchildren, Jason
(Tammi) McKee, Tanya McKee, Tamara Loos, Erica Loos, Matthew (Holly) Schulz,
Bradley Bush and Robin (Sebastian) Wasikowski; eight step-grandchildren, six
great-grandchildren, six step-great grandchildren and one on the way.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Albert, two sisters and
one brother.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at St. Stephen
Lutheran Church, Edgar. Rev. Gail Sowell will officiate. Burial will be in the
Edgar Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday
from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services all at St. Stephen Lutheran Church.
Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Edgar, is in charge of arrangements.
