Wiesman, Irene E. (Weisenberger) (16 JUL 1930 - 30 JAN 2016)
Irene E. Wiesman, 85, Wausau, joined her beloved husband, Jim, in eternal life
on Saturday January 30, 2016 at Mount View Care Center, Wausau, with her
children at her side.
She was born July 16, 1930, in the town of Cassel, daughter of the late John and
Eleanor (Lang) Weisenberger. On September 11, 1948, she married James F. Wiesman
at St. John Catholic Church, Edgar. He preceded her in death March 13, 2015.
Irene was a homemaker that, in addition to raising her own family, took loving
care and enjoyment in watching her grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered
for her fantastic apple pies and garlic/dill pickles, her quirky smile and
subtle wit as well as her green thumb when it came to her flowers, vegetables
and general landscape skills. Through the years, Irene was an active member and
volunteer at St. Matthew Catholic Church. Irene had a special place in her heart
for animals, and any strays were treated as her own.
Survivors include her children, Jan (Tom) Wetterneck, Schofield, Linda (Steve)
Hill, St. Paul, MN, Ken (Mary) Wiesman, Rib Mountain and Brenda (Steve Collins)
Wiesman, Wausau, 11 grandchildren, Dr. Tosha (David) Wetterneck-Brenneis, Dr.
Chad (DeeDee) Wetterneck, Tanya (Michael) Phelan, Kevin (Jan) Beilke, Mitch
Hill, Katie (Matthew) Bacon, Jesse, Ryan and Brett Wiesman, Josh Goretski and
Tracer Collins, 11 great grandchildren, a brother-in-law, Joe (Elaine) Wiesman,
two sisters-in-law, Rita Wiesman and Dorothy Wiesman and her beloved rescue
cats, Calli and Momma Kitty.
Besides her parents and husband, Irene was preceded in death by three brothers,
Henry, Alfred and Leonard Weisenberger and two sisters, Mary Miller, and Leona
Syring.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Noon Tuesday February 2, 2016 at St.
Matthew Catholic Church, Wausau. The Rev. Dan Thelen will preside. Entombment
will be in Memorial Chapel Mausoleum, Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Friends
may call on Tuesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. In
lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Alzheimers Association or the
