Bailey, Eldon “Lee” (3 MAY 1933 - 22 JAN 2016)
Eldon “Lee” Bailey, 82, of Beloit, died Friday, Jan.22, 2016 as a result of an
automobile accident.
He was born May 3, 1933 in Soldiers Grove, the son of Meral and Blanche
(Longmire) Bailey, and beloved step mother Bernice (Watson) Bailey. Lee was a
Korean War veteran serving with the U.S. Navy. He married Carol A. Donnelly on
Oct. 6, 1954 in Cambridge, Mass.
Lee worked for various manufacturing companies as a machinist throughout the
area, retiring in 2008. He was a lifetime member and former president of the
Newark Gun Club. Lee was also a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Bailey of Beloit; six sons, Michael Bailey of
Fox Lake, Bill (Jane) Bailey of Madison, Tim Bailey of Medford, David Bailey,
Sean Bailey and Jeremy Bailey all of Beloit; grandchildren, Daniel Bailey and
Brendan Hess; sister, Retha Bailey of Beloit; brother, Richard (Pat) Bailey of
Cherry Valley, Ill., and Judy Neumann (Guenther) of Beloit; along with numerous
nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Vernon and Kenneth.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial for Lee was held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb.
3 in St. Thomas Catholic Church, 824 E. Grand Ave., Beloit. Visitation was held
from 10 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. in the church. Daley Murphy Wisch & Associates
Funeral Home and Crematorium, 2355 Cranston Road, Beloit, assisted the family
with arrangements.
Memorials may be given in his name to St. Thomas Catholic Church or Vets Roll WI
and IL.
