Swallow, Howard Levi (25 September 1947 - 3 February 2016)

Howard Levi Swallow “Niomani” / “Xawico”, 68, of Neillsville died Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, at his home.

Howard Levi Swallow was born Sept. 25, 1947, to Imogene Swallow Winneshiek and Henry Greengrass. He attended and graduated from Neillsville Public Schools. He attended the Madison Area Technical School. He joined the United States Marine Corps July 15, 1970, and served in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged July 15, 1973. He worked for Lunda Construction, for the Ho-Chunk Nation as a safety inspector and numerous other jobs. Howard enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and riding his Harley. He also enjoyed playing Bingo and Pokeno and loved gardening and traveling.

He is survived by a daughter, Delaine Marrietta; a son, Christopher Swallow; a step daugher, Lisa Flick; grandchildren: Shannon Baldwin, Lalanya Marrietta, Leelee, usher, Ayla and Katie Swallow and great-grandchildren, Zadrian and Nymiah. He is further survived by numerous brothers and sisters, nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services for Howard were held at 12 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at the Dells Dam Community Center, with visitation from 10 a.m. until time of service. Dennis Funmaker officiated. Interment was in the Dells Dam Family Cemetery. The Andrew Blackhawk Post #129 provided Military Honors.
