Slowiak, Sally Mary (2 March 1920 - 5 February 2016)
Sally Mary Slowiak, age 95, of Stanley, died Friday February 5, 2016, at Country
Terrace in Stanley under the care of St. Croix Hospice. She was born on March 2,
1920, in Stanley to the late Peter and Stefania (Zajac) Klisiewicz. Sally grew
up in the area and married Louis Slowiak on October 12, 1946, at St. Mary’s
Czestochowa Catholic Church. The couple farmed in the Town of Thorp until 1977
when they retired and moved to Stanley.
She enjoyed crocheting and knitting, playing rummy, reading, word puzzles and
polka dancing. Sally was a great cook and love to bake. She loved to spend time
with her family, children and grandchildren. Her faith was a great source of
comfort throughout her life.
She is survived by her children: Father Allan Slowiak of Rothschild, Bernard
(Linda) Slowiak, Clarence (Barb) Slowiak, Christine (Gary) Almberg, all of
Stanley, Mary (John) Snider of La Crosse, Dean (Donna) Slowiak of Chippewa
Falls; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a brother, John (Mary)
Klisiewicz of California; two sisters-in-law; Elaine Klisiewicz of Stanley and
Delores Slowiak of Cadott; and one brother-in-law, Joseph (Claudette) Slowiak of
Arizona.
Sally is preceded in death by her husband, Louis (2002); her parents; grandson,
Christopher Slowiak; brothers: Joseph and Steven Klisiewicz; and sisters:
Angeline Slowiak, Anna Glenn and Helen Klisiewicz, in infancy.
A funeral Mass was held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at Holy
Family Catholic Church with Father William Felix and Father Allan Slowiak
concelebrating. Burial followed in the Parish Cemetery. Visitation was from 5:00
p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Monday with a 7:00 p.m. rosary at the Plombon Funeral
Home, and Tuesday morning from 9:30 a.m. until time of departure to church.
