Olsen, Andrea Lea (28 DEC 1957)
On Saturday, December 28, 1957 at 7:00 p.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church,
Amherst, Miss Andrea Lea Olsen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter E. Olsen,
Amherst, became the bride of Larry Lee Vollrath, Amherst, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Henry Vollrath, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.). The Rev. O. Paul Hougen officiated
before an altar decorated with white candles and red poinsettias. There was also
a lighted Christmas tree in the church.
Miss Louise Anderson, organist, played Christmas carols on the chimes before the
ceremony. She accompanied Miss Carol Brown, Urbana, Ill., who sang "Wedding
Benediction" and "The Lord's Prayer" and Miss Rita Bohman as she sang "I Love
Thee," by Grieg, and played the wedding marches.
The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white lace
over net with a taffeta cummerbund at her empire waistline. Details of her dress
included a Sabrina neckline, long pointed sleeves and a chapel length train. A
crown of illusion net flowers held her fingertip veil of imported French
illusion. She carried a white Bible with red roses and a lace-edged
handkerchief, which her late grandmother, Mrs. Charles Olsen, carried as a
bride.
Miss Ruth Arlene Ristow served as maid of honor, and Miss LeAnn Olsen, cousin of
the bride, was bridesmaid. They wore identical ballerina length frocks of white
brocaded taffeta featuring circular skirts, short sleeves, Sabrina Necklines
which ended in V's in the back and white cummerbunds with large red taffeta bows
in the back. Their shoes were red and their headbands were of white taffeta, and
they carried cascade bouquets of small white chrysanthemums, centered with red
poinsettias.
The groom was attended by Harvey Goeke, Greenwood, as best man, and (some of the
article was missing because of damaged newspaper)….
…young women of the church choir cut served the wedding cake, made and decorated
by an aunt of the bride, Mrs. Harris Olson, assisted by Mrs. Gerald Yokers, had
pillars separating the iters and was topped by a molded sugar Bible with gold
letters "To Love and Cherish."
Guests attended from Chicago, Greenwood, Wis. Rapids, Stevens Point, Madison,
Janesville, Rosholt, Colby, Milwaukee and surrounding area.
The bride, who attended Central State College, Stevens Point, has been employed
in secretarial work there. The groom, a graduate of the Greenwood High School
and River Falls State College, is vocal instructor in the Tomorrow River
Schools. They will reside in Amherst.
