The Rural Fire Department and members of the Greenwood Fire Department were
called out on Sunday about 7:00 a.m. to a fire at the Ervin Horn home 9 miles
northwest of Greenwood on the Warner-Longwood town line.
The fire started from an over-heated oil burner and the fire and dense smoke
kept firemen from entering the building, while the strong northwest wind didn't
help at all.
The property is owned by Theodore Braun and the damage was estimated to be about
$6.000 on the property, with $3,500 insurance, and Mr. Horn estimated his loss
on the household goods and clothing as about $2,500, with $1,500 insurance.
Many of our older readers will remember the building as the old Ted Braun cheese
factory. It was made into a home in recent years.
