Hiles, Lila (2 NOV 1874 - 17 FEB 1958)
Lila Bryan was born on November 2, 1874 at Sparta. She received her education
there and taught school in the Sparta area before her marriage.
On November 5, 1898 she was united in marriage to Otto Hiles at Sparta.
The couple moved to Merrill and lived there until 1916, when they moved to farm
in Clark County's Town of Grant. In 1922 they moved to Greenwood, where they
operated the Greenwood theatre for many years. In late years their home was in
Neillsville.
Mrs. Hiles passed away at her home at Neillsville on Monday, February 17, 1958.
Funeral services were held at the Bergemann Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. on
Thursday, February 20th. Rev. Virgil Holmes, pastor of the Methodist Church,
officiated. Burial was made in the Neillsville Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mrs. Alva Howard, and a son, Gale
Hiles, and a sister.
