Joanne, Tolaney, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) High School senior and daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Tolaney, R. 1, Willard, walked of with top honors in the
Radio Spelling Bee sponsored by Station WDLB, Marshfield. Joanne topped the best
spellers from sven Marshfield area high schools in the final contest last
Saturday to wind a beautiful portable typewriter worth over $140. She had won a
pen and pencil set earlier when she won the local contest. Joanne spelled down
the contestants from the other school s and then rattled off the correct
spelling of "paraphernalia" to take the title. Joanne was coached by Mrs.
Marvelene Butterbrodt, English instructor.
