Brost, Norbert J. (1 MAY 1930 - 10 FEB 2016)

Norbert J. Brost, age 85, of N3542 Woodland Rd., Medford, a Township of Medford resident, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 10 at Our House Assisted Living, Medford where he had resided for the past 16 days most recently under the care of Hope Hospice.

Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 13 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford, with Father Phil Juza and Deacon Joe Stefancin, officiating. Interment of his cremated remains will take place at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Medford.

Visitation will be at the Hemer Funeral Home, Medford from 4-7 PM on Friday, Feb. 12 where there will be a 7 PM Catholic prayer service held that evening. Also from 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM on Saturday, Feb. 13 at the church.

Norbert was born on May 1, 1930 in the Town of Medford, to Anton Joseph and Mary (Stauner) Brost, Jr.

He attended Holy Rosary Catholic School, Medford and Medford High School.

Norbert married June 2, 1951, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford to Rosalie J. (Thompson) and she survives.

After his education, he owned/operated a trucking business. He worked as a heavy equipment operator in Kenosha for a period of time. Then he managed the transportation department at Weather Shield in Medford for a period of time. He owned/operated Timberline Transportation and Northwoods Transportation until ill health forced his retirement. He served on the Medford School Board of education for a period of time. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, the outdoors, yard work, and spending time with his family.

He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford.

Norbert is survived by his spouse, Rosalie J. Brost, Medford; children Bev (Galen) Metz of Leander, Texas; Gary of Medford; Barb (Pete) Dums of Wausau; Larry (Cindy) of Panama City Beach, FL; Steve (Sandi) of Medford; Tom (Mary) of Medford; Brian (DeAnn) of Blair; Kevin (Mary Jo) of Medford; Dean (Janet) of Medford; Kristi (David) Bernhardt of Madison; 17 grandchildren; 8 grandchildren; and several step-great grandchildren.

He is also survived by siblings, Mary Ann Gawin of Menomonee Falls, WI; Dolores Shaw of Medford; Leon (Yvonne) Brost of Medford; In–laws: Beulah Brost of Franklin, WI & Ruth Brost of Medford

He is predeceased by his parents, Anton Joseph and Mary (Stauner) Brost, Jr.; 2 children in infancy; siblings, Edward and Francis Brost, Betty Dohm, Agnes Stephan and Rosemary Brost in infancy; Brothers-in-law: John Gawin, James Shaw & Robert Dohm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be given to the family for a future designation.
