Long, Clarence E. "Mike" (1899? – 16 JUN 1958)
Clarence Edward Long passed away at his home in Antigo on Monday, June 16, 1958,
after a lengthy illness. He had reached the age of 59 years.
He was married to the former Bessie Poirier on March 15, 1922, at Greenwood
(Clark Co., Wis.). They lived on a farm south of town for several years before
moving to Janesville, and later to Antigo.
Mr. Long is survived by his wife, six daughters and two sons, twelve
grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers.
Military funeral services were held on June 19th from the Soman Funeral Chapel,
with burial in the Elmwood Cemetery. Members of the American Legion and the
Disable Veterans served as pallbearers, and the Radar Station at Antigo
furnished the Color Guard and Firing Squad, with Taps being played in the
distance at the American Flag was folded and presented to the widow.
"Mike" Long, as most folks knew him, was in the U.S. Navy for 3 1/2 years during
world War I and has one son, who is at present serving in the Navy in the
Mediterranean theatre, and was unable to attend his father's funeral. He is
expected home on leave some time soon.
