Kornack, Pauline J. (Suennen) (3 OCT 1925 - 20 FEB 2016)
Pauline J. Kornack, age 90, of 685 Blackberry St. Edgar, passed away Saturday,
February 20, 2016 at Aspirus Hospice House in Wausau surrounded by her loving
family and under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice.
The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at St.
John the Baptist Church in Edgar, with Fr. Thomas Huff officiating. Interment
will be at Calvary Cemetery in Athens.
Pallbearers will be Jesse Daul, Aaron and Bryan Wulk, David and Patrick Kornack
and Neil Bergmann.
Visitation will be at 9:00 A.M. until time of services at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday,
February 23, 2016 at St. John the Baptist Church in Edgar.
Pauline was born on October 3, 1925 in Athens, to Henry and Katherine (Dessl)
Suennen.
She attended Athens High School, then attended Medford Normal School and
finished her teaching degree in Stevens Point.
On June 1, 1946, Pauline married the love of her life Arthur E. Kornack at St.
Anthony’s Church in Athens. He preceded her in death in 1996.
Pauline started teaching in Gad before taking time off to raise her family. She
then taught for 32 years in the Athens, Colby and Edgar areas before retiring.
In her retirement, Pauline continued to teach as a substitute teacher for many
years. She enjoyed playing cards, coffee and toast with friends, solving
puzzles, but most of all she loved spending time with her children,
grandchildren and great grandchildren. She especially saved her weekends to
share with them through visits or phone calls from those that were unable to
visit.
She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Edgar, the Ladies Aid Groups
PCCW, WI Education Association and the Lion’s Club.
Pauline is survived by her children, Roger (Sharon) Kornack, of North Dakota;
JoAnn “Dolly” Bandini, of Indiana; Chuck (Marcy) Kornack, of Athens; Bev (Jake)
Bauman, of Wausau; Linda (Tom) Schulz, of Wausau; Marilyn (Al) Daul, of
Stratford; Ed “Smoke” Kornack, of Alaska; and Greg (Tammy) Kornack of Edgar; 18
grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren.
She is also survived by a sister, Helen Bergmann of Athens.
Pauline is predeceased by her parents, Henry and Katherine (Dessl) Suennen;
daughter, Joyce Kornack; siblings Catherine Joers, Marge Suckow and Henry
Suennen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Pauline’s name to Aspirus Hospice
House in Wausau.
The family would like to give a special thank you to everyone for being such
special friends to Pauline throughout her life and to the staff at Aspirus
Hospice House of Wausau for taking such good care of her.
