Miss Cora Turnquist, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Turnquist, R. 1, Greenwood
(Clark Co., Wis.), was among the 32 members of the graduating class of Luther
Hospital School of Nursing, who received their diplomas at commencement
exercises held at the Old Main Auditorium of Wisconsin State College in Eau
Claire on Friday evening, September 5th, 1958.
The commencement address was given by Mrs. Signe Cooper, Associate Professor of
Nursing, University of Wisconsin, and president-elect of the Wisconsin State
Nurses Association. Dr. Walter May of the college of music department, played
the organ prelude and the processional and recessional. The Rev. Herbert Juneau,
pastor of the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, gave the invocation and
benediction. Dr. R.C. Brown extended greetings from the medical staff of Luther
Hospital.
Following the presentation of the class by Miss Patricia Finn, assistant
director of nursing education, the diplomas were presented by Mr. Arthur H.
Nelson, president of the board of directors of Luther Hospital, and the pin of
School Nursing was given to each graduate by Miss Helen Brunclik, director of
the School of Nursing.
A reception for new graduates and their families and friends was held at the
Women's Residence Hall following the ceremony.
