Mabie, Leon G. (5 SEP 1878 – 11 NOV 1958)
Leon G. Mabie, 80, 411 S. Chelan Ave., a pioneer orchardist of the Wenatchee
Valley, died in a Spokane hospital on Tuesday, November 11, 1958, following an
extended illness.
Mr. Mabie was born Sept. 5, 1878 at Greenwood (Clark Co.), Wisconsin. At the age
of 21 he came to Washington and settled at Great Falls. In 1904 he came to
Wenatchee valley and homesteaded at Monitor. In 1907 he married Kittie Searles
at Ols Mission. Mr. and Mrs. Mabie made their home up Fairview Canyon until
1917, when they moved to Monitor, where Mr. Mabie operated a fruit ranch and
served as Justice of the Peace until 1943, when he retired and moved to
Wenatchee.
He was a member of the Boys and Girls of Yesteryear and a 30 years member of the
FOE 204 Wenatchee.
He is survived by his wife, one son, Guy Mabie, in Korea; seven daughters, Mrs.
Wm. Monnyham, Spokane; Mrs. Dorothy Shellenbarger, Yakima; Mrs. Melvin Hake,
Spokane; Mrs. Robert Davies, Tacoma; Mrs. Norman Wilkins in Africa; Mrs. Richard
Christensen, Medford, Oregon; Mrs. Walter Eidson in South Carolina; one sister,
Mrs. Maude Wilson, Wenatchee.
