Wiertz, Frank (abt. 1890 – 8 OCT 1918)
Frank Wiertz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Wiertz, made the supreme sacrifice on
Oct. 8th, his parents having received official notice from Washington of his
death which occurred from wounds received in action in France. Frank was 28
years of age and was a member of the Marine Corps at the time he met death. He
had been a member of this branch of service for four years, having served one
term of enlistment, and then enlisting again for the period of the war. He
enlisted in the Marine Corps four years ago and took an active part in the
fights in which the United States Marines so greatly distinguished themselves.
Frank was a fine young man of great ability and was well known for his honesty,
industry and high repute. He is survived by his parents, who live just north of
this city, and also by one sister and one brother.
