Begley, Howard (abt. 1882 – 5 Dec 1918)

Howard Begley died at his home in town York on Thursday, Dec. 5th, his death being due to pneumonia following an attack of influenza. Howard Begley was born to Mr. and Mrs. Edward Begley and at the time of his death was 36 years of age. He was raised in the town of York, brought up on a farm and adopted farming as his life work when he was a young man. He was married to Miss Sadie Barton, daughter of Mrs. Anna Barton, ten years ago and a daughter and son were born to this union. When Mr. and Mrs. Begley were married they moved onto the young man’s farm where he made his home until his death.

Deceased was a temperate, conscientious and capable man, industrious and highly esteemed in the neighborhood which had always been his home. He and his wife had been at Rochester but a few days before his death relative to Mr. Begley’s health. They returned home on Monday night of last week and the following day Mr. Begley was taken sick with the flu and on Thursday he passed away. He was a member of the Beaver Lodge.

Mr. Begley is survived by his wife, daughter, Selma, and son, Russell. Also by his parents and two brothers and one sister: Edward and George and Grace Begley. A brother, John, died last July. The funeral was held at York Center Church Saturday afternoon and interment was made in the York Cemetery.
