Chili (12 Dec 1918)
Last Tuesday night about two o’clock the people of Chili were awakened by the
cry ”fire” and upon investigating it was found that John Bushon’s barn was
burning, the interior being ablaze. By hard fighting the house and the M.W.A.
hall were saved. Otherwise a good portion of Chili might have burned.
Tom Gibson was a business caller in Marshfield Tuesday.
Mrs. Lucius Allen is sick at the home of her grandmother in Neillsville.
Esther Sparks of Sherwood is assisting Mrs. Gibson with her household duties.
Last Saturday night someone broke into L.A. Reichert’s store and helped
themselves to some wearing apparel and an immense lot of candies and other
confectionary.
