Langraf, Leon (1 JAN 1886 – 14 Dec 1918)
Leon Langraf, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Langraf, died at the home of his parents
on Clay St. last Saturday afternoon. He had been sick with the influenza, which
was followed by pneumonia and which caused his death. Leon was born in
Neillsville and would have been 33 years of age had he lived until New Years
Day. He spent practically all his life here and was an expert employee of the
furniture factory when that institution was operating here. He was a skilled
mechanic and a capable and conscientious young man. He was united in marriage to
Edna Gehrke in Sept. 1906, and two sons were born to them, Lester and Glen. Mrs.
Langraf died in April, 1910, and since that time Mr. Langraf had made his home
with his parents. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World. He is survived by
his father and mother, his two sons, one sister, Mrs. Wm. Weast, and one
brother, Leroy, now serving his country in France. The funeral was held on
Tuesday afternoon, services being conducted at the house and interment being
made in the Neillsville Cemetery.
(Correction note from Karen Schauf)
Hello Ann,
I do believe you have spelled Leon's family name wrong. There is a "d" in his
last name. Also you have the wrong date of birth for him. He was born in 1886.
If he was born in 1896, he would have been 14 when he married and I do not think
that was the case.
I know that sometimes the newspaper that you transcribed from is wrong but I
wanted to put in the correct name and DOB.
Thank you.
