Hogue, Margaret (3 OCT 1869 – 6 JAN 1959)
Margaret Fahey, daughter of the late John and Bridget (Kenney) Fahey, was born
October 3, 1869 near Watford, Canada, and came to this area with her mother
October 15, 1887. They resided on a farm on the 26 Road, south of Greenwood
(Clark Co., Wis.), which had been purchased by her brother.
On April 8, 1896 she was united in marriage to Harry E. Hogue. They resided in
Greenwood, where they ran a restaurant for many years. She also cooked in
lumbering camps during the winter months where her husband worked. She was also
a practical nurse and many of the younger people were born in her home. She laso
helped care for many patients in their own homes and it made no difference what
their religion was or what time of night or how far she had to go in the country
where they lived, Maggie was always ready to help and many times without any
financial returns.
She was a charter member of st. Mary's Catholic Church and St. Anna Society.
Members of St. Anna Society attended the funeral in a group.
Mr. Hogue passed away on June 6, 1955 and Mrs. Hogue entered the Mary Crest
Nursing Home at Durand at this time.
In November 1958 she had the misfortune to fall and break her hip. She underwent
surgery at Luther Hospital, Eau Claire. She returned to Durand and was a patient
at the Community Hospital there until her death.
Mrs. Hogue passed away at Durand on Tuesday, January 6, 1959 and her body was
brought to the Hill Funeral Home in Greenwood. A rosary was said there on
Thursday evening.
A Requiem High Maass was read at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greenwood on
Friday, January 9th, at 9:00 a.m. The Father Rev. Father Edward Hartung, pastor,
officiated. St. Mary's School Choir sang the mass. Burial was made in St. Mary's
Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Ralph Weidman, Elmer Johnson, A.C. Buker, Dr. R.L. Barnes
and two of her grandsons, Guy and James Weidman.
Mrs. Hogue is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Al (Adine) Penrose, Coloma, Michigan;
five grandsons, three granddaughters, sever great-grandchildren, three
sons-in-law and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Art (Edna) Zahren in
May 1945; another daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Eva( Weidman, who was killed in an auto
accident in June 1945, her parents, nine brother and three sisters.
Those from away who attended the funeral were Mrs. Al Penrose, Coloma, Michigan;
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Weidman and daughter, Longwood; James Weidman, Withee; Mr.
and Mrs. Guy Weidman, Greenwood, rural route; John McMahon and Mrs. Ray (Arlene
McMahon) Ammerman, Eau Claire; Mr. and Mrs. Jack Fahey, Stanley; Mrs. James
Donegan, Chicago; Wm. McKenna and son David, Loyal; Miss Nancy Cox, Marshfield;
Mrs. Greschner, Withee.
