Volk, Frank (17 JUL 1883 – 7 MAY 1959)
Frank Volk was born July 17, 1883 in Austria and came to the United States and
settled in Colorado, where he was married to Mary Zitnik. They came to the
Willard (Clark Co., Wis.) area about 1909. Mrs. Volk passed away in February
1951.
Mr. Volk left Willard nine years ago and made his home with his daughter, Mrs.
Charles (Emma) Machan at Lyons, Ill. for eight years. He entered a Catholic Home
in Chicago a year ago, where he passed away on Thursday, May 7, 1959. The body
was taken to Hill Funeral Home in Greenwood on Saturday. A rosary was said at
8:00 p.m. on Sunday.
A requiem Mass was read at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 11, 1959 at Holy Family
Catholic Church, Willard. Rev. Father Aloysius Madic, pastor, officiated. Burial
was made in the parish cemetery.
The pallbearers were his grandsons, Ronald and Charles Volk, Jerome Jr. and
Lawrence Stremikis, Wm. And Kenneth Machan.
Mr. Volk is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Charles (Emma) Machan, Lyons, Ill.;
Mrs. Harold (Mary) Hunter, Joliet, Ill.; Mrs. James (Frances) Matousek, Downers
Grove, Ill.; Mrs. Jerome (Ann) Stremikis, Willard; six sons, Rudy and Edward,
Willard; Joseph and John, St. Paul, Minn.; Gabriel, Downers Grove, Ill.; Albert,
Madison; 16 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife and son, Frank.
