Bauer, Selma Amelia (21 APR 1896 – 5 MAY 1959)
Mrs. Nicholas Bauer, nee Selma Amelia Johnson, was born in Sweden on April 21,
1896. She came to America when 6 years of age and the family settled on a farm
in the Town of Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.).
On December 4, 1916 she was united in marriage with Nicholas Bauer. After their
marriage they farmed near Spencer until 1920, when they went to Riplinger, where
they lived for 20 years. They then went to Fond du Lac, where they lived for a
couple of years, and moved to Marshfield in 1952. For the past year she has been
a patient at the Havenet Nursing Home at Owen.
Mrs. Bauer passed away at Owen on Tuesday, May 5, 1959, following a stroke.
Funeral services were held at Faith Lutheran Church, Marshfield, Thursday, May 7
at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Harold Oelschlager officiated. Burial was made in Hillside
Cemetery, Marshfield.
Mrs. Bauer is survived by her husband, four daughters, Mrs. Sylvester (Helen)
O'Brien, Owen; Mrs. Leon (Mae) Copet, Fond du Lac; Mrs. Harold (Esther) Braun
and Mrs. Orlando (Alvina) Kind, both of Greenwood; one son, Maynard, Colby; 16
grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Henry (Eda) Smith, Loyal; Mrs. Theodore (Hilda)
Hill, Dixon, Ill.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters and 6 brothers.
