Gerstberger, Elmer John (2 JAN 1921 - 3 MAR 2016)
Elmer John Gerstberger, age 95, of 1205 Kennedy Street, Rib Lake, passed away at
Golden Living Center, Rib Lake, on Thursday March 3, 2016.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday March 7, 2016 at St. John’s
Lutheran Church in Rib Lake, with Pastor Joseph Dietrich, officiating.
Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Rib Lake. Pallbearers will be Bob
Anderson, Rick Cardey, Larry Ziembo, Rick, Taran, and Michael Dohrwardt.
Visitation will be at 9:00 AM until the time of services at 11:00 AM, at St.
John’s Lutheran Church, Rib Lake.
Elmer was born January 2, 1921, in Rib Lake, to Ernest and Gertrude (Thome)
Gerstberger.
He completed the 8th Grade at Fawn Valley Elementary School and Elsie C. (Kretschmer)
Gerstberger in Rib Lake on June 27, 1942.
Elmer worked for the Town of Rib Lake and drove the road grater, he retired
after 30 years. He also owned his own farm. He loved working in his garden, and
in the woods cutting firewood. He was an avid Milwaukee Brewers fan, and enjoyed
spending time with his family. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church,
Rib Lake.
He is survived by his children, John (Patricia) Gerstberger of Rib Lake, and
Janice Olson of Waukesha; grandchildren Mary and Julie Gerstberger of Rib Lake,
Connie (Warren) Wisniewski; one great-granddaughter; sister Betty Quednow of Rib
Lake.
Elmer is predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Gertrude (Thome) Gerstberger;
siblings, Glendon “Sonny”, Otto, Arthur Gerstberger, Esther Kluckman, Alice
Ziembo, Edna Rezutek, Marcella Dawbert, and two in infancy.
