Arndt, Gerald A. “Jerry” (22 AUG 1924 - 25 JUN 2010)
Gerald A. “Jerry” Arndt, age 85, of 718 E. Conrad Dr., Medford, passed away on
Friday, June 25 at his residence in the city of Medford under the loving care of
his family and Hope Hospice.
His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 30 at First Baptist
Church, Medford, with Pastor Brian Wipf officiating. Interment will take place
at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II at a later date.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Kori, Ericka, Brent, Jason & Benjamin
Arndt, Sarah, Annie and Erin Wildberg.
Visitation will be at Hemer Funeral Home 4-7 PM on Tuesday, June 29 and also at
church from 10 AM until time of funeral services at 11 AM on Wednesday, June 30.
Jerry was born on August 22, 1924, in the Township of Hammel, to Otto and Bertha
(Dodzweit)
Arndt.
He attended Medford area elementary schools and is a 1942 graduate of Medford
High School.
On May 31, 1947, he married Carol Handel, at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church,
Medford, and she survives.
After his education, Jerry enjoyed farming for 17 years in the Town of Medford.
In 1959, he and Carol owned & operated the Arndt Color Center in Medford for 30
years until his retirement. Also during this time, he served on the Medford
School Board. In later years, one of his greatest joys was singing in the
Promise Quartet and an active involvement in the Baptist Church. His hobbies
included golfing, baseball, travel, mission trips and hunting, all places to
socialize with those he loved. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Medford.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Carol Arndt of Medford; children, Dr. Perry
(Karen) Arndt of Medford, Mark (Sally) Arndt of Medford and Kris (Dr. Brad)
Wildberg of Medford; 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and a brother,
Ernest (Ruth) Arndt of Medford.
He is predeceased by his parents, Otto and Bertha (Dodzweit) Arndt; and a
brother, Paul Arndt.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to Samaritan’s
Purse, C/O the Arndt family.
