Mike, Dewey (29 MAR 1899 - – 30 AUG 1918)

Note: Birth and death date taken from Dewey Mike Cemetery listing

Sunday’s casualty list contained the name of Dewey Mike of Neillsville who died of wounds. Dewey was an Indian who enlisted with the Neillsville company and went across as a member of the 32nd Division. He was wounded once, but recovered, and got in to the front again. His second wounds were so serious that his death followed. Dewey was a general favorite with the boys and his friends here will deeply regret to learn of his death.

I just stumbled on your website that lists Pvt Dewey Mike as KIA.
Sources note he died of his wounds (DOW) in a field hospital behind the front line in France.

With all good wishes, Harald Prins
