Gregory, William Clair (6 OCT 1892 – 23 Jan 1919)
William Clair Gregory died at his home a mile south of Columbia at about three
o’clock Thursday morning after a week’s illness with the flu followed by
complications. On Wednesday a consultation with physicians was held at his home,
but not much hope was held out for his recovery. Death occurred from heart
failure at the hour above noted.
Will Gregory was employed as mail carrier out of the Columbia Post Office for
some months. Previous to that occupation he had charge of his father-in-law’s
farm. He was born in Alma Center Oct. 6, 1892, being 26 years, 3 months and 18
days of age. He is survived by his wife and two young children; his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. W.E. Gregory, of this village; four brothers and two sisters. One of
the children of the deceased is seriously ill, and it was in helping to care for
the little one while he himself was ill with the flu that caused the relapse and
resulted in his death. – Humbird Enterprise
