Pleasant Ridge (30 Jan 1919)
Prof. Henderson came out to our church Sunday and filled Rev. Colman’s place and
gave us a rousing good talk. Everyone would be pleased to have him come again.
Miss Merwin Hiles was at Granton a few days last week helping care for her
grandfather.
Mrs. Clayton Vine is in a hospital at Whitehall where she underwent an operation
for appendicitis.
Mr. and Mrs. John Detrich received the sad message that their son, Ben, had been
killed in action on the 26th day of October. The entire Ridge sympathizes with
them in their bereavement.
Several of James Hughes relatives came Sunday and helped him celebrate his
birthday.
James Hughes, son of Pat Hughes, is just home from France and is spending a few
days with his cousin, Jim Hughes.
Sam Cook and daughter, Ella, and Geo. Vine and family spent Monday evening with
the James Hughes family, listening to Jim Hughes tell his experiences at the
front. He had been gassed.
