Statewide Vital Records (Issuance- 2016)
Clark County Register of Deeds Peggy Walter announces effective Jan. 1, 2017
residents may no longer have to travel to other counties to obtain a certified
copy of their vital records. Vital record events include birth, death and
marriage certificates. With new technology and a statewide database, all
Wisconsin register of deeds will have access and be able to issue certain
certified copies of these records via the centralized web-based State Vital
Records Information System (SVRIS).
If an event occurred in Wisconsin, commencing Jan. 1, 2017, the vital record can
be picked up at any Wisconsin Register of Deeds office.
There will be some limitations to this process, as there are certain vital
records that will not be immediately available in the state database. Births
from 1994 to present, deaths occurring Sept. 1, 2013, to present and marriages
taking place May 18, 2015, to present will be available for issuance statewide.
Older records will gradually become available as the State Vital Records office
completes the back scanning and indexing of those records, which may take
several years.
Walter would like to emphasis not all records will be available at the
implementation of this service in 2017 and advises individuals to call the
office at 715-743-5163 to inquire if the record is available for issuance by
Clark County.
The Clark County Register of Deeds office is located in Room 303 of the Clark
County Courthouse in Neillsville and is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.
to 4:30 p.m., excluding holidays.
