Smart, Deloris A. (Blasel) Kraus (18 NOV 1927 - 28 JAN 2010)
Deloris A. Smart, age 83, of N3977 Evergreen Street, Medford, a township of
Medford resident, passed away on Saturday, December 18 at Memorial Health
Center, Medford where she had been taken earlier by ambulance.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 22 at St. Paul’s
Lutheran Church, Medford, with Rev. Peter Warmanen, officiating. Interment will
be at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jon, Trent & Ryan Kapfhamer, Bob, Mike & Dan
Dankert, Tim Lemke, Jr. and Wade Matyka.
Visitation will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Medford, from 9 AM until time
of funeral services at 11 AM on Wednesday, December 22.
Deloris was born on November 18, 1927 at Medford, to Albert and Elsie (Korth)
Blasel.
She attended Stetsonville area elementary schools.
Deloris was first married on September 3, 1951, at Stetsonville to George Kraus
and he preceded her in death August 5, 1974. Her second marriage was on April 2,
1983, at Stetsonville to Vilas E. Smart and he preceded her in death Feb. 27,
1997.
She farmed in the Township of Little Black for many years. While farming she
also worked at Weyerhauser in Marshfield for a period of time. She worked at
Marathon Cheese in Medford for a period of time. She moved to Milwaukee and
worked at Briggs & Stratton Co. until her retirement and moved to Westfield, WI.
They moved back to Medford in 1996. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, knitting,
crocheting, bingo and her various church functions.
Deloris was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Medford; Past member of Zion
Ev. Lutheran Church, Stetsonville and Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Coloma,
WI.
She is survived by her children, Bruce (Chris) Kraus of Medford; Jane (Dan)
Kapfhamer, Sally (Tim) Lemke, and Sandra (Larry) Virnig all of Medford, Judy
(Jim Tews) Dankert of Davies, FL; 2 step-children, Keith Smart of Wisconsin and
Hope (Roger) Todzy of Wausaukee, WI; 15 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 24
great great grandchildren and 1 step great great grandchild.
She is also survived by siblings, Arlis Lageman of Whittlesey; Harry Blasel of
Spirit, Melvin (Sylvia) Blasel of Medford and Norman (Doloris) Blasel of Little
Black.
Deloris is predeceased by her parents, Albert and Elsie (Korth) Blasel and son,
Daniel Kraus in 1972.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in her name to St. Paul’s
Lutheran Church, Medford
