Orie was born on January 20, 1917 at Almond, WI, to Fred and Bertha (Mehne) Krohn.

He attended Almond, WI public schools.

Orie was married on April 8, 1941 at Rockford, IL to Kathryn Larson and she preceded him in death 25 October, 1986. His second marriage was on October 11, 1988 at First Baptist Church, Medford to Edna Ehlert and she survives.

Prior to moving to Taylor County almost seventy years ago, Orie worked in Wausau, Chicago and Rockford. They resided and farmed in the town of Little Black for a period of years. He also worked in Hurd Millwork in Medford for 20 years. But he’s probably best remembered for the volunteer work he did in the community; he was a volunteer driver for Taylor County’s Division of Human Services for several years after retiring from farming, taking residents to doctors’ appointments or other places for services. An active founding member of First Baptist Church, he was very involved in the congregation serving on various boards and committees. A loving husband, devoted father, proud grandpa and trusted, caring friend, Orie Krohn now rests in heavenly peace. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Medford.

He is survived by his second wife, Edna Ehlert Krohn of Medford, children, Bryce (Patricia) Krohn of New Brighton, MN; Bonnie (Gerald) Balciar of Parker, CO; Lynette (David) Lekie of Las Vegas, NV; Lois (Mark) Ruesch of Medford; Hilda (Jeffrey) Heglund of Menomonee Falls, WI; Nyla (John) Gebert of Wausau; Lonna (Frank Szupica) Jonas of Racine; Robert (Carol) Krohn of Orlando, FL; William (Joan) Krohn of Waukesha, WI; step-children: Gene (Jane) Ehlert of Medford; Gloria (Roger) Adams of Eau Claire; Edith Ehlert of Gays Mills, WI; Diane (Sam) Ehlert of Medford; 23 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren; 34 great great grandchildren; 10 step great great grandchildren.

He is also survived by 2 brothers-in-law: Nels (Shirley) Larson of Stetsonville & William (Viola) Larson of Rockford, IL.
