Liske, Violet V. “VI” (Bernitt) (4 MAR 1927 - 30 JUN 2010)
Violet V. “VI” Liske, age 83, of 625 E. Broadway Medford, passed away on
Wednesday, June 30 at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where she was
taken earlier by Medi-Vac.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 3, at the Hemer
Funeral Home, Medford, with Father Gerard Willger officiating. Interment will be
in Medford Evergreen Cemetery, Medford.
Pallbearers will be Troy, Craig, Nicholas and Adam Liske, Cody Freeman, Steven,
Philip, Nathan and Ryan Sendelbach.
Visitation will be at 4-8 P.M. Friday, July 2 at the Hemer Funeral Home, Medford
and also from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July
3 at the Hemer Funeral Home, Medford.
Vi was born on March 4, 1927 at Milwaukee, WI, to William and Elizabeth (Hirsch)
Bernitt. She attended Medford Area Schools.
She was married on November 30, 1945 at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Medford,
to Raymond G. Liske. He preceded her in death on January 21, 2007.
Violet and her husband owner and operated their own dairy farm in the Town of
Deer Creek. They also used their station wagon as a school bus to transport 9
kids with 2 routes. In 1962 she started at the Taylor County Memorial Hospital
as a Nurses Aide and then worked as a Seamstress in the laundry department until
her retirement. She enjoyed fishing, rubber stamping, crocheting, quilting, and
baking, especially pies and biscuits. Ray and Violet were foster parents for 16
children over a six year period.
She is survived by her children, Dany (Judith) Liske of Stanley, Janis Liske of
Medford, Scott (Nancy) Liske of Appleton, JoLee (Lee) Sendelbach of Rochester,
Minn., and Jillyn (Craig) Freeman of Boone, Iowa; foster children: Shirley
(Roger) Knight of Mazomanie and Cindy (Bob) Boss of Wisconsin Rapids; 15
grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; a sibling, William Bernitt of Owen.
She is predeceased by her parents, William and Elizabeth (Hirsch) Bernitt, 1 Son
in infancy; and 2 Brothers: James and Robert Bernitt
In lieu of flowers, memorial’s can be made to Vi’s family to be designated at a
later date
