Nelson, Joyce L. (Cherney) (23 MAR 1930 - 10 DEC 2010)
Joyce L. Nelson, age 80, of W6840 County Road O, Medford, was pronounced dead on
Friday, December 10 at her residence in the town of Medford.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 15, at Hemer
Funeral Home, Medford, with Rev. James Krueger officiating. Interment will be at
Medford Evergreen Cemetery II.
Pallbearers will be Bruce Albers, Randy Kremsreiter, Bob Kalmon, and Cody
Thomsen.
Visitation will be at the Hemer Funeral Home 11:00 AM until time of funeral
services at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 15.
Joyce was born on March 23, 1930 at Medford, to Albion and Mildred (Graff)
Cherney.
She attended Medford area schools, was a graduate of Medford High School, and
attended secretarial school in Minneapolis.
Joyce was married at Medford to George Nelson, and they were later divorced.
After her education she worked as a secretary for Louis Charles, Atty. office
for a period of time. Then she worked as a receptionist at the Harvey Co. in
Medford until it was sold to Weather Shield Mfg. in Medford. She then worked
many years there as the head receptionist until her retirement. She enjoyed
crafts, sewing, cross country skiing, her grandchildren, her children’s
activities, and in her earlier years, she enjoyed the cottage in northern WI.
She was a member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Medford; Past member of the
Medford Curling Club & Tee-Hi Golf Club of Medford.
Joyce is survived by her children, Guy (Patti) Nelson of Medford and Jay (Rose)
Nelson of Estero, FL, and Sandy (Randy) Kremsreiter of Athens; 8 grandchildren,
siblings, Janet Doriot of Medford and Judy Luebeck of New London, WI.
She is predeceased by her parents, Albion and Mildred (Graff) Cherney, and a son
Mark Nelson in 1969.
