Miss Gwendolyn Urbanz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Urbanz, Willard (Clark
Co., Wis.), is a member of the 1959 graduating class of Stout State College,
Menomonie. She will received the Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics
Education from Dr. Verne C. Fryklund, president of Stout, in commencement
exercises to be held Friday morning, May 29th, 1959.
Speaker for the occasion will be Maj. General Melvin J. Maas (retired),
decorated veteran of three wars, for 16 years a member of the U.S. House of
Representatives, and now, blind himself, chairman of the President's Committee
on Employment of the physically handicapped. Presenting diplomas to the
graduates will be Robert L. Pierce, member of the Board of Regents of Wisconsin
State College.
Before entering the school of Home Economics at Stout, Miss Urbanz was a member
of the graduating class of the Greenwood High School. While attending college,
she took part in the following campus activities: Delta Zeta Sorority, national
social sorority, Home Economics Club; Women's Recreation Association.
After graduation, Gwendolyn Urbanz has made plans to teach Home Economics at the
Public School in Stratford, Wisconsin.
