Two members of the Greenwood FFA Chapter will be among the 280 FFA members in
Wisconsin who will receive the State Farmers Degree at the Annual State
Convention of the Future Farmers of America to be held at the American Baptist
Assembly, Green Lake, on June 8, 9, 10, and 11. Local members receiving the
award will be William Herr, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Herr, Greenwood (Clark Co.,
Wis.), and William Jordan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig Jordan, Willard.
Candidates are selected on the basis of their Farming Program, Scholarship,
Leadership Activities and Cooperative Activities in which they have
participated. Winning of this degree represents the highest award that can be
achieved in the Future Farmer organization on a state basis.
William Jordan also has been a member of the FFA Chapter for four years, and the
past year served as Sentinel. He has carried an outstanding farming program,
which included dairy cattle, swine and crops. At Award Day exercises held at the
close of school, he received an award for his outstanding farming program. He
also was a member of several judging teams. For the past several years he has
conducted yields and fertility plots on his home farm.
