Carol E. Turnquist, R. 3, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) is among the 401 Wisconsin High School girls attending the 16th annual Badger Girls' State held on the University of Wisconsin campus during the week from June 10 to 17.

Sponsored by the Wisconsin American Legion Auxiliary and the UW Extensions Divisions Bureau of Government, the Boadger Girls' State program is designed to acquaint the girls with the functions of municipal, county, and state government, and to initiate them into the duties of citizenship, is one of the many education public services held throughout the year on the State University campus for all citizens.

Selected by the faculty of their high schools, the girls attending the weeklong conference nominate and elect their own city, county and state officials. Included on the program are discussions of the forms of government, why we have political parties, who decides what state government does, the legal status of women and many other aspects of citizenship and government.
