Veurink, William (12 OCT 1900 – 15 JUL 1959)
William Veurink was born October 12, 1900 at Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin., the
son of Garrett Veurink and his wife Mary, nee Verhulst. He grew up into youth
and manhood, having attended the common schools of Sheboygan Falls. They he came
to live in Clark County, Wisconsin.
He was united in marriage to Miss Tyrni Leino at Neillsville, Wis., Sept. 2,
1925. After some time on the farm the young couple moved to Village of Withee
(Clark Co., Wis.), where the deceased established a business. Her he lived
exactly 30 years, when his end came.
His health began to fail some four years ago and he underwent surgery in
Rochester, Minn. Less than a year ago the old trouble flared up again, and again
there was surgery, without arresting the disease this time.
He passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield early Wednesday morning,
July 15, 1959 at 4:10 a.m., after being confined to his home for several months.
He attained the age of 53 years, 9 months and 3 days.
Burial services, in charge of the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home, were held at
St. John's Church, Withee, Friday, July 17, at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Theodore C.
Prehoehl spoke words of comfort based on the Seventh Petition of the Lord's Pray
– Deliver us From Eve. Mrs. Ted Klabon sang "The Lord is My Shepherd" and "In
the Garden," accompanied by Mrs. H. Rabska.
Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery.
In addition to six regular pallbearers, there were also eight honorary
pallbearers. The regular pallbearers were Bernard Auberg, Frank Hendriks, Walter
Lipprandt, George Vollrath, Wm. Weinberger, and Ervin Zelm. Honorary were Leon
Bruchert, Grant Anderson, Levi Dickinson, Emery Erickson, Lester Hansen, Eddie
La Page, Louis Pagel and Harry Thorson.
Thirteen ladies were flower girls, as there was a profusion of beautiful
flowers. They were Mmes. Tillie Weinberger, Viola Hendriks, Aleda Tormey, Bonnie
Hansen, Della Le Page, Annie Nissula, Isabell Backe, Natalie Scherf, Marian
Lipprandt, Ruth Krach, Betty Bruchert, Flora Bartholomew, and Veryl Auberg.
He is mourned by his widow, one daughter, Mrs. Norbert Bruchert of Withee; one
granddaughter, Patricia Bruchert; a sister, Mrs. Leon Olson, Superior; a niece,
Mary Jo Bartylla, Superior; two nephews, Kenneth Olson, Superior; Lloyd Olson,
Moorhead, Minn.; an aunt, Liza Verhulst, Milwaukee; and a number of cousins and
other relatives.
