Nutt, Geneviera (31 JUL 1885 – 22 AUG 1959)

Mrs. Charles R. Nutt, nee Geneviera Loft, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Loft, was born on a farm south of Greenwood (Clark Co.), Wisconsin, on July 31, 1885. She received her education in the rural schools in this community and graduated from the Greenwood High School with the class of 102. She taught school for one year in Clark County, and then attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where in 1907 she received her Bachelor of Arts degree.

Following her graduation she taught biology in high schools at Plymouth, Fond du Lac and Madison. She then returned to the University at Madison for a doctorate in geology. She spent many years teaching at the University.

On January 28, 1928 she was united in marriage to Dr. Charles R. Nutt at Rockford, Illinoi, and following her marriage made her home at Plymouth, Wisconsin.

She was a member and past president of the Plymouth Women's Club, and served many years on the State Board of the League of Women Voters. She aalso served on the Board of Education, the Red Cross, Wisconsin Heart Association, Blood Bank program, Camp Fire Girls and American Service Committee.

Dr. Nutt passed away on March 31, 1949.

Mrs. Nutt, who had been vacationing for the past month with a close friend, Mrs. G.N. Campbell at Kalaina, Washington at 3:35 p.m. and passed away a few hours later at a hospital. The small foreign make car in which she was riding, overturned on a curve south of Aberdeen.

Private funeral services were held in Plymouth on Wednesday, August 26th at the Wittkopp Funeral Home. The Rev. Lowell Ferguson, pastor of Salem Evangelical and Reformed Church, officiated. Cremation followed the service.

She is survived by nieces and nephews. Two nieces from Colorado and Nebraska attended the services.
