Edens, Richard J. “PIPES” (6 MAR 1942 - 10 MAR 2016)
Richard J. “PIPES” Edens, age 74, of Westboro, WI, passed away on Thursday,
March 10, 2016 at his residence in Westboro.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the
First Lutheran Church in Ogema, with Pastor Linda Strader officiating.
Cremainal Interment will take place at Leavitt Creek Cemetery in the Town of
Hill where military honors will be performed by the Westboro VFW.
Visitation will take place at 9:00 A.M. until time of services at 11:00 A.M.
Saturday, March 19, 2016 at the First Lutheran Church in Ogema.
He was born on March 6, 1942 in Glendale, California, to Everett Andrew Ellworth
and Helmi Marie (Hill) Edens.
Richard attended Westboro Area Schools and was a 1960 graduate of the Westboro
High School
After high school, Richard enlisted in the U.S. Army from 1960 until 1963. He
completed training in New Jersey before being stationed in Germany for the
remainder of his service. Richard then worked in road construction for Mangel in
Custer, WI for a period of time. He then worked for Weathershield in Medford
until his retirement in 2004. Pipes enjoyed eating, hunting, fishing, shooting
guns with his nieces and nephews and going for ATV rides. He was a member of the
Westboro VFW and the NRA.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Julie Matthias and Angela Hoffmann
both of Medford and Jeremy Edens of Westboro; great nieces, Desiree Matthias and
Ashley Rouiller; siblings, Dan Edens of Ogema and Dave Edens of Dexterville.
Richard was predeceased by his parents, Everett Andrew Ellworth and Helmi Marie
(Hill) Edens.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Richard’s name to the Westboro VFW
or American Legion.
