Strunk, Arnold "Arnie" E. (8 SEP 1920 - 14 MAR 2016)
Arnold "Arnie" E. Strunk, Age 95, of Abbotsford passed away on Monday, March 14,
2016 at Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center in Owen with his dog, Suzy
by his side.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 19
at Saint Bernard’s Catholic Church in Abbotsford. Burial will follow in the
Abbotsford Public Cemetery.
Family and friends are welcome from 9:00 AM until time of service Saturday at
the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with
the arrangements.
Arnie was born September 8, 1920, the son of Erhard and Malinda (Hinke) Strunk
in Kenosha. He moved to the Town of Johnson at an early age and attended Corinth
Country School.
Arnie was united in marriage to Beatrice "Pete" C. Dahlke on October 18, 1947 at
Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edgar and were married 63 years. She
preceded him in death on October 14, 2010.
Arnie farmed in the Town of Johnson and also hauled milk. Later, he worked for
the city of Abbotsford in the public works department for 15 years. He enjoyed
animals, including feeding the deer, turkeys, bears and raccoons on his land in
the Town of Hamel. Arnie also liked tending to his raspberries, potatoes and
tomatoes. He especially loved his Shih tzu dog, Susie. Arnie was a kind and
gentle man who was well liked by all who knew him.
Arnie is survived by his sister, Margaret "Mike" Oehler of Mosinee and brother,
Harold Strunk of Kenosha; three sisters-in-law, Gertrude Karlen of Edgar, Anne
Dahlke of Edgar and Myrtle Pflanzer of Colby; many nieces and nephews, other
relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three brothers: Alfred,
Walter and William and his sister, Anna Miller.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Saint Bernard's Catholic
Church or the Humane Society.
