Strunk, Arnold "Arnie" E. (8 SEP 1920 - 14 MAR 2016)

Arnold "Arnie" E. Strunk, Age 95, of Abbotsford passed away on Monday, March 14, 2016 at Clark County Rehabilitation and Living Center in Owen with his dog, Suzy by his side.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 19 at Saint Bernard’s Catholic Church in Abbotsford. Burial will follow in the Abbotsford Public Cemetery.

Family and friends are welcome from 9:00 AM until time of service Saturday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.

Arnie was born September 8, 1920, the son of Erhard and Malinda (Hinke) Strunk in Kenosha. He moved to the Town of Johnson at an early age and attended Corinth Country School.

Arnie was united in marriage to Beatrice "Pete" C. Dahlke on October 18, 1947 at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edgar and were married 63 years. She preceded him in death on October 14, 2010.

Arnie farmed in the Town of Johnson and also hauled milk. Later, he worked for the city of Abbotsford in the public works department for 15 years. He enjoyed animals, including feeding the deer, turkeys, bears and raccoons on his land in the Town of Hamel. Arnie also liked tending to his raspberries, potatoes and tomatoes. He especially loved his Shih tzu dog, Susie. Arnie was a kind and gentle man who was well liked by all who knew him.

Arnie is survived by his sister, Margaret "Mike" Oehler of Mosinee and brother, Harold Strunk of Kenosha; three sisters-in-law, Gertrude Karlen of Edgar, Anne Dahlke of Edgar and Myrtle Pflanzer of Colby; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three brothers: Alfred, Walter and William and his sister, Anna Miller.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Saint Bernard's Catholic Church or the Humane Society.
