Tice, Thelma L. (Hotzel) (28 DEC 1912 - 28 JAN 2010)

Thelma L. Tice, age 97, of 135 Gibson Street, Medford, died Monday, December 20 at Memorial Nursing & Rehab Center, Medford where she had resided for the past 7 years.

Funeral services will be on Thursday, December 23 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford, with Father Gerard Willger and Deacon Joe Stefancin officiating. Interment will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Medford.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Mark, Joshua, Sam & Nathan Tice, Joseph Friday, Nick Cullen, Catherine Skelton and Jeff Henrich.

Visitation will be at the Hemer Funeral Home 11:30 AM until 1:15 PM on Thursday, December 23.

Thelma was born on December 28, 1912, at Raleigh, North Dakota, to Charles F. and Emma (Madson) Hotzel.

She attended Raleigh, ND and Donald, WI elementary schools, and was a graduate of Cornell, WI High School.

On October 21, 1933, at Gilman, Thelma married Clarence J. Tice. He preceded her in death November 9, 1993.

They farmed in Donald for a period of time. Moved to the Township of Medford in 1944 and she cared for her parents for 20 years. She worked most of her life as a housewife & mother. She also cooked at Brookside Elementary School in the town of Medford for many years. She also cooked for Holy Rosary Church dinners, weddings & funeral luncheons. She enjoyed reading, baking, crocheting and gardening. She was also active in Taylor Co. 4-H activities. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford; Our Ladies of Holy Rosary; Harmony Homemakers group; Memorial Hospital Auxiliary; Taylor County Historical Society; various bible study groups.

She is survived by her children, Robert (Joan) Tice of Greendale, WI, David (Charmagne) Tice of Cedarburg, WI, Bruce (Patricia) Tice of Cologne, MN, Mary Ellen (Donald) Friday of Waupaca, Philip (Kristen) Tice of Shipshewana, IN, Elizabeth Cullen of Medford, Laura Thielke of Wausau, Raymond (Diane) Tice of Lakeville, MN; 17 grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren; 3 great great great grandchildren.

Thelma is predeceased by her parents, Charles F. and Emma (Madson) Hotzel; and a brother, Robert Hotzel.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made in her name to Holy Rosary Catholic School, Medford.
