Dray, Leslie “Les” W. (14 APR 1924 - 7 NOV 2011)
Leslie “Les” W. Dray, age 87, of N3383 County Road Q, Medford, died on Monday,
November 7 at Memorial Nursing & Rehab Center, Medford where he had resided for
the past 10 days most recently under the care of Hope Hospice.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 10 at Hemer
Funeral Home, Medford where there will also be military rites performed by the
Medford Military Honors Team, with Rev. Cathy Hinman officiating.
Interment of his cremated remains will take place at Medford Evergreen Cemetery
II.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Craig Staab, Brandon Brandner,
Stephanie, Nicholas, Rachel & Matthew Dray; great grandchildren, Garret &
Mariela Staab.
Visitation will be at the Hemer Funeral Home from 9:00 AM until time of services
at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 10
Les was born on April 14, 1924 at Medford, to John Henry and Selma Agnes (Rasmusson)
Dray.
He attended Medford area elementary schools and was a 1943 graduate of Medford
High School.
On June 25, 1949, at Stetsonville, he married Loretta D. Schmidt. She survives.
US Army Technical Sgt., veteran of WW II having served in the South Pacific from
1943-1946. After the service, he farmed in the township of Medford, was a mink
rancher for 15 years, and worked at Hurd Millwork for 41 years until retirement
in 1989. He enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, trapping,
dancing, spending time at his pond, building model airplanes, tying fishing
flies, planting trees, watching the GB Packers, and was an amateur taxidermist.
He is survived by his wife, Loretta D. Dray of Medford; children, Patricia Dray
of Sheridan, Wyoming, Denise (Kurt) Staab of Medford; Russell (Carol) Dray of
Medford and Roger (Cindy) Dray of Medford; 6 grandchildren; 2 great
grandchildren.
Les is predeceased by his parents, John Henry and Selma Agnes (Rasmusson) Dray;
siblings Dale in 2008 & Melvin in 2011.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made either to Hope
Hospice or the Memorial Health Center Foundation both of Medford.
