Joyce Albert, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Albert, Route 2, Greenwood (Clark
Co., Wis.), has been selected by her classmates and the faculty to receive the
D.A.R. Good Citizen Award this year in Greenwood High School. This award is
presented each year to the senior girl who best represents the qualities of
dependability, service, leadership and patriotism.
Joyce has not only been an outstanding student throughout her high school
career, but has also been active in a variety of school activities. This years
she is president of the senior band, mixed chorus and is student director of the
pep band. She is co-editor of the annual and the school paper. She has also been
active in forensics and dramatics.
Candidates for the D.A.R. Good Citizens Award are selected first by the senior
class as a whole. The faculty then make the final selection from the candidates
who have received the highest number of votes from their classmates. Prizes on
the state level are awarded on the basis of answers to a citizenship
questionnaire, which each award winner must submit. The state prizes consist of
Government bonds and cash.
