Dittner, Ernest J. (24 NOV 1904 – 24 SEP 1970)

Ernest J. Dittner, 65, of Spencer, died at 8:15 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 1970, at St. Joseph’s Hospital following a brief illness.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, at Christ the King Catholic Church. Rev. Andrew H. Bofenkamp officiated, and burial was made in the West Spencer Cemetery. Pallbearers were John J. Burke, Wilmer J. Staub, Carl Luder, Robert Keyes, Alfred Frank, and Rudy Schweiss.

Ernest Dittner was born in Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), November 24, 1904. His marriage to Marie Bushman took place November 16, 1927, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Marshfield. A resident of the Spencer area, he was employed as a dealer in livestock.

He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the National Order of Foresters, and the Holy Name Society of his Parish.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Nobert, Marshfield; and John of Green Bay; two daughters, Dorothy Foth, LaGrange, Illinois; and Mrs. Robert (Geraldine) Schweiss, Coon Rapids, Minnesota; 12 grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Amelia Linner, St. Paul, Minnesota; and Mrs. Elizabeth Pilon, Madison.
